GED instructor Kendra Clayton’s high school days were nothing to brag about. So she’s not too thrilled when on top of having to take a class to renew her teaching certificate or be fired, she gets roped into serving on her high school’s reunion committee.
Spending time with her former classmates is even less fun than having a root canal. Then to make matters worse, Kendra and the other committee members start receiving strange messages and having freak accidents. When one of the accidents results in a death, Kendra is convinced it’s murder. Unfortunately, neither the reunion committee nor the police take her seriously.
To try and prevent another death—and to keep from worrying about all the time her sweetie, Carl, has been spending with his scheming ex-wife—Kendra digs into the lives of her fellow committee members and uncovers enough secrets, lies, and betrayal to make her head spin. When a second murder occurs, Kendra realizes she needs to watch her back in her search for the truth before a killer turns her into another buried secret.

I was really frustrated by Kendra’s lack of maturity in her relationship with Carl. He was wrong for accepting a job in another state without discussing it and not being up front about talking to his ex wife. But, for her part, (1) at 29 she doesn’t have her life even close to being together, (2) she hasn’t even thought about the future of her relationship after a year and (3) her relationship with Rollins is inappropriate at best and cheating at worst.
If you think of her as a 22 year old fresh out of college, her actions would make sense and not be off putting.

I really enjoyed this book. Only the profanity (which was not extreme) and a couple of graphic sex scenes kept me from rating it 4 star. I liked the mixture of mystery and humor. Most of it real humor not sarcasm masked as such. As another reviewer mentioned you can't determine who the killer is. Overall a very enjoyable read.
For me, I find this series not as good as most murder mysteries. I guess maybe that someone who seems to have no investigative knowledge, I find that I think of this more as a comedy than mystery
GED teacher Kendra Clayton would rather leave her high school years behind. When she's coaxed into being on her high school reunion committee, the problems are just beginning. One of Kendra's classmates dies in a freak accident and another classmate is murdered. The police don't believe that the two incidents are related, but Kendra feels different. But when secrets and strange alliances are uncovered, Kendra may be in over her head.
Schooled In Lies is a great mystery by Angela Henry. Henry brings back Kendra Clayton with more drama than ever. What makes this novel stand out is that the main character is just a regular person that stumbles upon these mysterious events. Almost everyone is a suspect in this story, and readers will be shocked when it's revealed who the murderer is. Schooled in Lies is a good mix of drama and intrigue that will make you want to read the previous and future Kendra Clayton mysteries.
Kendra is hilarious and I love Ms. Henry's humorous writing style. I so wish there was a book six! (Hint, hint)!!
I enjoyed the plot twists. I had an inkling who the murderer was, but for different reasons than Kendra laid out. (I wanted to scream when it was Trish with Rollins. Really, Trish?)

Kendra is a nosy, busy body, so I can only imagine that she had those traits in high school. She reminds me of Lt. Columbo. She's very persistent and pesky. It isn't that surprising that she wasn't all that popular.
Yes, Kendra had reason to be on high alert with Carl spending time with his ex.
No, as Kendra didn't have secrets.
Kendra was wrong and obviously doesn't listen to reason, but there wouldn't be a story if she did the right thing.
I'm undecided on this question. Some people can change, but most people don't.
I was a little surprised that she was conflicted because she knew she was going to get married and get payback on Lynette for putting her in that mermaid bridesmaid's dress. I think she just didn't want to marry Carl. Had someone better offered her a proposal she definitely would have swooped up on it. I have turned down a marriage proposal or two and it was because of the guys in question. I think Kendra got caught up in the right now. Rollins isn't the one either.
It's a no brainer, what the heck is Trish doing with Rollins? URGH!!! Well, she is the polar opposite to Kendra.
I continue to enjoy Angela's books. Kendra is familiar in a good way. She feels like someone I could be friends with.
Wow, what a book. While Kendra's love life is in shambles she seems to have something else to worry about. I was intrigued by the murder this time because the actual perp was unexpected. The twists and turns we're numerous but never out of control. The ending was unexpected as we'll and I am looking forward to the next installment.
