She's spent a long time in a bubble. In an odd turn of events, Corinne is taken out of boarding school and plunged into high school where bullies reign and nice guys come in last.

But this is after she's already fallen in love with Abel over the summer.

Abel is trapped, with friends he secretly hates, but has chosen to stay with the status quo. It's just high school, right?

What do you do when the person you love sees the very worst part of you? And how do you help them when they discover their life is a hoax?

The writing style is good. The descriptions are evocative and intelligent. The problem here is that the story line is a bit preposterous, the flow is non-existent, and the whole thing feels incomplete. It creates the feeling that the author was in a hurry to get to "the end". There is a lot of potential here, but with a basis as far-out as this one, there needs to be a lot more to this story. It's jagged, and overall the transitions are trite and predictable. The author telegraphs way too much, especially in the ending - which was really quite bland(the epilogue imagery was nice, but again, predictable). With a few thousand more words this author could tell a much better, more complete story. It needs character development (a lot of it!), background information/history, and much more emotion. I will say I enjoyed reading the story because of the descriptive style of writing, but the overall finished product left me a little cold.

Hoax edition by Lila Felix Children eBooks Reviews

Hoax tells the story of Abel and Corinne. A couple of high school seniors who meet and fall in love over the course of a summer. Abel hangs with the cool crowd and Corinne wonders if she'll fit in and can still be a part of Abel's world after they are able to be together alone over the summer without any outside influences. Lila Felix does another great job writing a truly sweet and beautiful story of young love. There are no real hot sex scenes but when you have a story this well written, you don't miss it. You won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed the book and thought it was an interesting take on bullying...I think that's why I kept reading. i wanted to see what the big deal was with the public high school and the friends that the main character didn't want to hang out with.

I was waiting for this huge ball to drop but in the end, nothing really happened. The friends were jerks but that was it. There was no big secret no big WHAT?!? Moment, which kind of made me sad. I thought the romance in the book was great and the writing was wonderful. Maybe I just had too high of hopes for the plot. Good though. )
I absolutely loved this book! I loved the easy romance of the love story and I absolutely loved Corinne and Abel. This book was very well written with only a couple minor errors. I loved Abel to death! He was so cute and hilarious and even though at one point in the book a really wanted to smack the crap out of him and shake some sense into him (they are at school you will understand when you read it I refuse to give anything away) I also found that he was an all around amazing guy. I did really enjoy Corinne except i really hated how stubborn she could be. I understand wanting to handle problems in life on your own but most of the book I found myself wanting to scream at my kindle "Suck it up and admit you nee him!!!" This book had me completely hooked and I finished it within about 4 hours it was that good! I continuously found myself laughing out loud to the point that I had to put my kindle down so I could get control before I started reading again. I also found myself wanting to cry at the horrible parents both Corinne and Abel had. The thought of parents so horrible broke my heart. This book was very well written and I loved every second.
The only complaints I have are that Corinne was a little too stubborn, the bullying scenes made me cringe and want to cry, and I wish we could have found out more of what happened with Brett at the end, whether he got what he deserved or not.
All in all I loved this book and look forward to more amazing books by Lila Felix!
Hoax is a book about a young girl who's life is turned upside down after learning she is not longer enrolled in the boarding school that has basically been her home for most of her life. The main character is refreshing take on the typical teenage girls you find in these YA novels. She is smart, hard working, morally centered, and has a good personality. There was not whining, or spoiled girl moments anywhere. It was so nice to read a positive main female character. The book has a great story and it is easy to get into it, which is why its so easy to finish this book quickly. The story flies and you find yourself thoroughly engaged. The author even manages to insert a few fun twists to keep the reader interested. You can't go wrong with this book, I definitely recommend it.
Hoax was a sweet, endearing and romantic read. I couldn't help but to smile as I read about this new young love blossoming.

All that sweetness was intermingled with the realities of highschool, the pain of feeling that you are alone in this world and perhaps unloveable, and the learning to trust when you just want to run screaming for the hills so you can hide away from those dificult to manuver situations.

Considering the subject matter within this story I do feel that there could have been more. More depth to the story as well as to some of the characters. There were a number of oppertunities to beef up the plot, to enhance the dialogue and to extend the angst and drama to perhaps a more realistic level. It was a bit to neatly wrapped up at the end there.

Over all this was an enjoyable read. Good for a quick fix before jumping into a new series.
I really enjoyed this book and the main reason was because of Corinne. She's cool, she's tough, she doesn't give a s*** about other people's opinions, she eats what she wants and best of all, she isn't afraid to get into the middle of a pack of bullies to protect a friend. She doesn't do stupid things (well, something towards the end, but her entire upbringing has taught her to act this way). I liked Abel a bit less, obviously for not breaking it off with his "friends" (the ringleader, Brett, is essentially Satan).

Why 4 stars? The parents. Yes, both sets of parents were beyond horrible and the only reason they shouldn't have been sterilized is because then Corinne and Abel wouldn't be born. I understand distant parents. I've seen it with some of my friends. But I can't imagine that these people could exist in real life - never cooking a meal, never going to a school conference, etc. I think it was a bit exaggerated.
